The Snapdragon X2 series is a SoC developed for laptops and mini PCs, featuring an Arm-based CPU and an NPU for AI processing. It's used in Microsoft's Surface series and is attracting attention as the third-largest processor after Intel and AMD. According to Qualcomm, one of the most frequent requests from developers was for Linux support, which has now finally become a reality.
The plan is to support Debian by the end of 2026, and Ubuntu by the first half of 2027.
With official Linux support now available, more developers and partners will have the foundation to build agent experiences on Snapdragon across a wider range of PC environments.
Qualcomm stated, 'Linux is a foundation that can be used as a base across the entire industry, and this is just the beginning. Our partners HP, ASUS, and HUMAIN are scheduled to begin Linux support in early 2027, enabling them to deliver the amazing user experience that the Snapdragon X2 series provides to their Linux-based devices.'
