Sukiya's 'Tuna Tekka Don' & 'Tuna Tataki Don' Tasting Review: A bowl where you can enjoy plenty of sliced tuna.

On July 28, 2026, Sukiya introduced a new menu item: ' Maguro Tekka Don, ' a rice bowl topped with slices of tuna. They also added 'Tekka Tataki Don,' a combination of their standard

Maguro Tataki Don (minced tuna rice bowl ), so I ordered both to try them out.

Arrived at Sukiya.

I ordered a regular-sized tuna tekka donburi (880 yen including tax) and a regular-sized tekka tataki donburi (1280 yen including tax) using the tablet on the table.

It was served about 5 minutes after ordering.

This is the tuna tekka donburi (rice bowl with tuna). It contained 10 slices of tuna, excluding some small pieces.

One bowl of rice comes with one packet of wasabi.

I mixed it with the soy sauce on the table to make wasabi soy sauce.

You can eat the tuna dipped in wasabi soy sauce, or you can pour the wasabi soy sauce over it. The tuna was thawed perfectly, and it was neither gritty nor watery, allowing you to enjoy the flavor of the lean meat.

The rice is not vinegared rice, but rather plain white rice mixed with a sweet sauce. The dish consists of 'rice mixed with sauce, topped with shredded nori seaweed, and then tuna and sesame seeds.' The tuna does not come with any seasoning, so you need to add or dip it in wasabi and soy sauce yourself.

I also tried the Tekka Tataki Donburi (seared tuna rice bowl). Like the Maguro Tekka Donburi, it had 10 slices of tuna.

It also comes with Sukiya's classic minced tuna.

With a regular tuna rice bowl, you have to think about the ratio of tuna to rice while you eat, but with a tuna tataki rice bowl, there's so much tuna that you can enjoy it without worrying about the proportions.

The regular-sized portions are priced at 880 yen (tax included) for the tuna tekka don and 1280 yen (tax included) for the tekka tataki don. They also offer the yamakake tekka don (regular size: 1090 yen, tax included), which is topped with grated yam, and the bakudan tekka don (regular size: 1280 yen, tax included), which is topped with grated yam, okra, natto, and a soft-boiled egg.
