Exterior review of the jet-black 14-inch PC 'VAIO SX14-R │ ALL BLACK EDITION'
The VAIO SX14-R , a Copilot+ PC certified model equipped with an Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 processor, was announced on April 23, 2026. The VAIO SX14-R allows for customization of the CPU type and memory capacity, and a special ' ALL BLACK EDITION ' model with a more powerful CPU than the standard model is also available. We were able to borrow a prototype of the VAIO SX14-R │ ALL BLACK EDITION, so we took a detailed look at its appearance and ports.

The standard VAIO SX14-R is available in five colors: Fine Black, Urban Bronze, Bright Silver, Deep Emerald, and Fine Red. Two special editions are also available: the 'VAIO SX14-R | Kachi-iro Special Edition' and the 'VAIO SX14-R | ALL BLACK EDITION.' These special editions offer the option of a high-performance Intel® Core ™ Ultra X7 Processor 358H. The Deep Emerald color of the standard model is described in the following article.

This is what the VAIO SX14-R ALL BLACK EDITION looks like. The black surface has a matte finish.
A glossy VAIO logo is engraved in the center.
The hinge is glossy black. The design combines matte black and glossy black.
This is what it looks like when you open the screen. The keyboard and touchpad are also black.
The keyboard looks like this. It has a standard key layout with the Fn key above the number keys, and a separate power button in the upper right corner.
The key's engraving is a dark gray, giving it an inconspicuous finish.
The key pitch is approximately 19mm (measured).
When you open the screen, the back of the keyboard rises and the front lowers.
The lower front of the keyboard allows for smooth typing without your wrists getting caught.
The display is 14 inches in size, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. You can choose between an anti-glare finish (low reflection) and a glossy finish (glossy).
The display features a 9.21-megapixel webcam, and a sliding privacy shutter is located above the webcam.
Sliding the privacy shutter to the left will physically block the webcam.
The screen opens up to 180 degrees.
Let's check the ports. On the left side, there is one USB 4.0 compatible USB Type-C port and one USB 3.0 compatible USB Type-A port.
On the right side, there is a headphone jack, a USB 3.0 compatible USB Type-A port, one HDMI port, one 1Gbps wired LAN port, and one USB 4 compatible USB Type-C port.
The dimensions are 312.0mm wide x 13.9-18.9mm high x 226.4mm deep. The high-capacity battery model I borrowed weighed 1233g according to my measurements.
