I built a fully automatic coffee machine by combining a coffee maker and LEGOs using a 3D printer.

The YouTube channel Brick Machines, which invents various things using LEGOs, has released a video showcasing a fully automatic coffee machine that combines a capsule coffee maker with LEGOs using a 3D printer, and can be controlled with a microcontroller and a custom-made smartphone app.

Building a LEGO Coffee Factory... - YouTube

Secure the coffee maker to the LEGO board.

Next, the parts were attached.

This is the mechanism for opening and closing the lid of the capsule insertion slot.

Furthermore, a mechanism has been added to the side that allows you to directly press a button to adjust the amount of coffee dispensed.

A rotating disc made from parts printed with a 3D printer.

It was used to rotate the capsule holder. However, if you rotate it too fast, the capsule will fly out, so you need to adjust the speed.

The capsule holder is located next to the coffee maker.

Since it's 'fully automated,' a robotic arm was developed to grab the capsules from the holder.

We'll also build the mechanism for moving the robotic arm using LEGOs.

Furthermore, the coffee cups and lids will be automatically replenished.

The cup and lid are placed on the left side of the coffee maker. The cup slides down a rail.

When attaching the lid to the cup, lift only one lid precisely and secure it to the cup after pouring the coffee into it.

The cup is dropped in one by one and then moved onto the sliding rail.

A box for storing used capsules. This box is removable so that the coffee maker's drip tray can be removed for washing.

The motor control unit is connected to a microcontroller, allowing it to be operated from a smartphone. From the smartphone, you can specify the amount of coffee and the type of flavor.

When you operate it with your smartphone, one cup first slides down the rail and then flows into the coffee maker along with a stack of lids.

The cup has been placed in the coffee maker. At the same time, the lid's ridge is secured to the device on the left side of the coffee maker.

The magic hand selects the designated capsule.

The capsule you grab is then placed into the capsule dispenser of the coffee maker.

Then, the button to specify the quantity is pressed.

The progress of coffee brewing is displayed on the smartphone app screen.

Once extraction is complete, the capsule is discarded into the box in front.

Then, the slide rail moves to the left, and the cup with the lid attached is brought forward.
