Amazon announced Health AI, an agent-based AI health assistant that makes healthcare easier by providing insights into users' health, helping them understand their medical records, and seamlessly connecting them with qualified medical professionals when needed.
Health AI can answer general health questions without knowing your personal medical information, but it's designed to be a personalized health agent that knows your medical history, so by entering your medical information it can provide more helpful answers and connect you with the experts, treatments, and account services you need to stay healthy.
By allowing Health AI to access your health information, Health AI can explain your test results, diagnoses, and medical records, provide more accurate and personalized answers to questions about symptoms and medications, and connect you directly with One Medical providers via message, video, or in person if specialized care is needed.
Additionally, the service helps customers manage prescription renewals through Amazon Pharmacy or their preferred pharmacy, sends requests to healthcare providers on One Medical, and provides recommendations for related healthcare products from Amazon.com.
Health AI is a healthcare AI agent that was launched exclusively for One Medical members within the One Medical app in early 2026. It has been well received by patients and healthcare providers, and the company has now decided to expand the service to all Prime members.
Amazon gave the following examples of questions that Health AI can answer:
'Can you explain my recent cholesterol levels and what they mean to me?'
'I was recently diagnosed with kidney stones. What dietary changes should I make to reduce the risk of recurrence?'
'I have a stuffy nose and a sore throat. What should I do?'
'What allergy medications are safe to use with my current prescription medications?'
'Can you help me connect with a healthcare provider to discuss my symptoms?'

Amazon also claims that users' health management information is securely protected in Health AI, saying, 'Earning trust is core to our healthcare mission, and Amazon remains unwavering in its commitment to security, patient privacy, and data integrity. All interactions with Health AI occur within a HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)-compliant environment. Customer conversations are protected by encryption and strict access controls. Protected health information collected from Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy will not be used for general product sales in the Amazon store or in Amazon Ads. Amazon also does not sell your personal data. Just as human clinicians learn from real cases while protecting patient privacy, we train Health AI models based on abstracted patterns that do not directly identify individuals. For example, if multiple patients ask about drug interactions, we may use these patterns, with patient names withheld, to improve how Health AI answers similar questions. We use protected health information only for purposes permitted by HIPAA.' This explains how we handle users' personal information.
