Qualcomm announces 'FastConnect 8800,' a communication chip compatible with 'Wi-Fi 8' and 'Bluetooth 7,' and also begins efforts to launch 6G communication in 2029



Qualcomm announced the FastConnect 8800 , a communications chip compatible with the next-generation wireless communication standards Wi-Fi 8 and Bluetooth 7, on March 3, 2026. Qualcomm also revealed plans for several products compatible with Wi-Fi 8, and announced strategic partnerships with companies around the world, including Japanese companies, to accelerate the deployment of 6G communications.

The FastConnect 8800 is a communications chip that can be installed in smartphones, tablets, laptops, robots, and more. Its Wi-Fi 8 communication speeds reach a maximum of 11.6 Gbps, while Bluetooth communication is possible at up to 7.5 Mbps. Furthermore, by combining Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UWB, it is possible to pinpoint the location of an object to within centimeters. Devices equipped with the FastConnect 8800 are scheduled to be commercialized in the second half of 2026.



Qualcomm also announced five new Wi-Fi 8-compatible chips under its Dragonwing brand for IoT devices: the Qualcomm Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite, the Qualcomm Dragonwing FiberPro A8 Elite, the Qualcomm Dragonwing FWA Gen 5 Elite, the Qualcomm Dragonwing N8, and the Qualcomm Dragonwing F8. Products equipped with these chips are also scheduled to appear in the second half of 2026.



Qualcomm also announced strategic partnerships with several companies to accelerate the development and deployment of 6G communications, with the goal of building on these partnerships to deploy commercial 6G systems in 2029.
