Apple aims to release three AI wearable devices: smart glasses, an AI pendant, and AirPods with a built-in camera.

Apple is reportedly accelerating development of three AI-powered wearable devices, including smart glasses, a pendant device, and camera-equipped AirPods, all of which will feature its digital assistant, Siri, at their core.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, an Apple insider, these AI wearable devices will work with iPhones and use the visual context provided by the built-in camera system to enable Siri to take action based on the user's surroundings.
The smart glasses are being developed under the codename N50, with production set to begin in December 2026 and a launch planned for 2027.

The N50 will be equipped with a high-resolution camera, speaker, microphone, and a lens dedicated to AI functions, making it a direct competitor to Meta and Snap products. While the prototype at the time of writing does not have a display, it will be able to make calls, play music, and provide contextual information (such as identifying meal ingredients, landmark-based directions, and reminder notifications)
Garman reports that Apple is developing the frame in-house, using high-quality materials like acrylic to create a premium feel. While early prototypes were wired to the iPhone, the latest version will have all components built into the frame.
In the future, Apple aims to develop smart glasses with AR displays that can provide richer visual information, but this is expected to take several years to become a reality.
The device, which is about the size of an AirTag and can be clipped onto clothing or worn as a necklace, acts as the eyes and ears of the iPhone. The device does not have a projector or display, and relies on the iPhone for most of its processing.
AirPods will be equipped with a camera and will have AI capabilities that will expand on features like live translation, which were introduced in 2025.

The pendant and AirPods are positioned as simpler and cheaper products than smart glasses, and could be released as early as 2026, Garman reported.
Along with the development of new wearable devices, a new version of Siri with a chatbot-like interface is being developed for iOS 27. However, the development of Gemini-based Siri has been delayed and it is said that it will be released in stages from iOS 26.4 onwards.

Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted at new product categories enabled by AI, and the news sent Apple's stock price soaring to $263. Gurman also reported that Apple is also developing AI-enabled devices for the home, including smart displays with robotic arms and home security sensors.
