Regarding his own succession and leadership transition, Cook said, 'I spend a lot of time thinking about who's going to be in this room five years from now, 10 years from now. I'm obsessed with who's going to be in this room 15 years from now.'

9to5Mac points out that this comment is not particularly insightful or noteworthy, as speculation is growing that Cook will step down within the next few years. Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, John Tarnus, is expected to succeed Cook.

Regarding the issue of succession, Cook said, 'Thinking about these things and planning for them is an important part of leadership,' and 'Some people reach a certain age and retire,' and 'It's a natural progression in some ways.'

Cook also commented on Apple's 50th anniversary in April 2026, saying, 'I've been thinking more deeply about Apple lately. I've been trying to figure out how to embrace this moment.' He added, 'When I stop and look back on the past 50 years, my heart beats faster. I promise to celebrate in a big way.'

Cook also said the departures of three Apple executives, Lisa Jackson, Jeff Williams and Katherine Adams, were planned and 'not a surprise.'

Cook also spoke about the issue of immigration in the US, saying that Apple employees should never have to worry about leaving their homes, and pledging to 'continue to pressure Congress on immigration issues.'

He also addressed an Apple employee who was worried about being deported and separated from her daughter, saying, 'If you are a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), I love you. I personally advocate for you and I strongly support this program.'
