Kioxia and Sandisk Announce Extending Contract at Yokkaichi Factory through 2034; Sandisk Launches New Gaming SSD Brand and Strengthens Consumer Products

KIOXIA has established a huge flash memory factory in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and has established a joint venture with SanDisk to manufacture products for both companies. On January 30, 2026, the company announced an extension of the joint venture agreement.

Kioxia's Yokkaichi Plant is located in Yamanoichiirocho, Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and is a major flash memory manufacturing base with a site area of 694,000 square meters (excluding parking) and approximately 6,800 employees as of March 2025.

Kioxia has established a joint venture with SanDisk to manufacture SanDisk products at its Yokkaichi plant. According to Kioxia's (PDF file)

Previously, the joint venture's contract term was set to expire on December 31, 2029, but it has now been extended by five years to December 31, 2034. As part of the extension, SanDisk will pay Kioxia $1.165 billion (approximately 180 billion yen).
SanDisk CEO David Goeckler said, 'Our collaboration began more than 25 years ago at the dawn of the NAND flash industry and has now expanded to hundreds of exabytes of supply, fueling a growing NAND flash market that is projected to reach $150 billion by 2026. This next phase of our partnership will expand our operations and benefit both companies. We look forward to a decade of partnership.'
In the memory industry, memory prices are rising due to the construction boom of AI data centers, and Micron has decided to withdraw from consumer memory and storage to focus on data centers . Meanwhile, SanDisk announced a new brand, 'SANDISK Optimus,' on January 5, 2026, targeting gamers and creators, showing its intention to focus on consumer SSDs.
