Google's Gemini is free to use, but it's not completely free and there are usage restrictions. These restrictions can be lifted by subscribing to Google AI Pro (2900 yen/month) or Google AI Ultra (36,400 yen/month).

According to Google, Gemini's usage limits are as follows:

Free Plan Google AI Pro (2900 yen per month) Google AI Ultra (¥36,400 per month)
Model 2.5 Pro Up to 5 prompts per day Up to 100 prompts per day Up to 500 prompts per day
2.5 Flash General Access
Context Size 32,000 1 million
Audio Overview Up to 20 per day
DeepResearch 2.5 Generate up to 5 reports per month using Flash Create up to 20 reports per day with 2.5 Pro Generate up to 200 reports per day with 2.5 Pro
Deep Think - - Up to 10 prompts per day in a context window with 192,000 tokens
Image creation and editing Up to 100 per day Up to 1000 per day
Time-limited actions - Limited Access (2.5 Deep Think Available)
Video Generation - Up to 3 videos per day using Veo 3 Fast (Preview) Up to 5 videos per day using Veo 3 (Preview)
Early access to features - Priority access to select new features

As shown in the table above, abstract descriptions such as 'access restrictions' and vague phrases such as 'we may impose limits on the number of prompts, conversations, or the number of times some features can be used within a specific period of time' are no longer used, and the usage limits for each feature are now listed with specific numerical values.

The free version has some limitations worth noting. If you use Gemini 2.5 Pro for your model, you can have up to five prompts per day, and the context window , which is the amount of text Gemini can remember, is limited to 32,000 tokens. According to Google, a context window of 1 million tokens means it can understand up to 1,500 pages of text or 30,000 lines of code. If your prompts exceed the context window, the software may return answers that don't take into account all the content you provided or that lack the context and details of the overall content.

Additionally, a maximum of 100 images can be generated per day. Free users are limited to five reports per month for the Deep Research feature, which uses the Gemini 2.5 Flash model. At the time of writing, the video generation feature using Veo 3 is also unavailable to free users.

The Gemini app's storage limit is the same for the Gemini web app, smartphone app, and Gemini in Chrome . According to Google, a notification will appear in the Gemini app when you approach the limit based on your plan. When you reach the limit, the notification will change to indicate when you can reset it.
