I tried using ELECOM's mobile battery 'DE-C68-5000BK (5000mAh)' which supports Qi2 and can simultaneously charge smartphones wirelessly and via USB Type-C.

For modern people who use smartphones while on the go, mobile batteries have become a necessity, but carrying a separate charging cable can be a hassle. ELECOM's mobile battery ' DE-C68-5000BK (5000mAh)' is compatible with the

Qi2 wireless charging standard for iPhones, and can also be charged via a USB Type-C cable. This wireless mobile battery arrived at our editorial office, so we tried it out.

Qi2 Wireless Mobile Battery (5000mAh/20W) - DE-C68-5000BK

This is the package for DE-C68-5000BK.

Inside was the DE-C68-5000BK main unit, instruction manual, and USB Type-C cable.

The body looks like this. The dimensions are 68.8mm x 114mm x 14.5mm.

On the front there is a Qi2 compatible wireless charging pad.

There is a USB Type-C port and an LED lamp on the bottom.

There is a power button on the right side.

The actual weight was 150g.

A quick press of the power button on the side of the device will turn on the LEDs, which indicate the remaining battery capacity: 4 lights up means 75% or more, 3 lights up means less than 75%, 2 lights up means less than 50%, and 1 lights up means less than 25%.

To charge the mobile battery itself, simply connect the USB Type-C cable to the device and the other end to an AC adapter plugged into a power outlet. The included USB Type-C cable is only 20cm long, so if you're using an outlet that's high up on a desk or floor, you'll need to place the device on a stand or other suitable surface.

When you bring your iPhone 12 or later Qi2-compatible device close to the wireless charging pad, it will magnetically attach to the device and begin wireless charging. Qi2 wireless charging output is up to 15W.

The magnetic force is quite strong, so even if you hold the DE-C68-5000BK body and turn it upside down, it doesn't feel like your iPhone is going to fall out unless you shake it vigorously.

The mobile battery itself and the iPhone are integrated, so there are no dangling cables while charging, which is a nice feature as it makes operation easy even while charging.

In addition, even devices that are not Qi2 compatible can be charged via a USB Type-C cable, which can output up to 20W.

As a test, we measured the output when charging a 5th generation iPad Air with a USB Type-C cable using the USB tester '

Power-Z KM003C ,' and found that it output around 16W to 17W of power.

The DE-C68-5000BK also features a 'low current mode' that allows you to charge low-power devices such as earphones at the optimal current. To enable low current mode, simply connect your earphones or other devices with a USB Type-C cable and press the power button for about 3 seconds.

When the device is in low current mode, the LEDs will flash one by one from the left. To exit low current mode, press and hold the power button again, or press it twice in succession.

While charging the DE-C68-5000BK main unit, you can also wirelessly charge a Qi2-compatible iPhone.

You can also charge your iPhone wirelessly and another device via USB Type-C cable simultaneously, with a maximum output of 15W.

DE-C68-5000BK is sold at an open price, and at the time of writing it was available for purchase at Amazon.co.jp for 7,480 yen including tax.
