Tennis balls introduced into classroom for hearing-impaired boy

For Luc Bordier, a 4-year-old boy with genetic congenital hearing loss, tennis balls are not just a way to play with his dog, but also a way to create the best learning environment in his kindergarten classroom. Tennis balls have been placed on desks and chairs.

Luc's hearing aids allow him to hear the sounds around him, but they work best when there is minimal noise. So, tennis balls were installed on the legs of all the desks and chairs. This reduced noise, such as when a chair was dragged, and allowed Luc to concentrate on the teacher's voice.

Apparently, a teacher named Joan Cruz wrote to the United States Tennis Association to send the tennis balls that were needed in large quantities, and some of the 400 balls donated were used to make chairs in the library and art room.
